Roof re-design and color concept for 18 carports. The originally open and later enclosed structures were damaged by water intrusions and dry rot. Our design increased the roof slopes and overhangs to correct design deficiencies of the enclosures.
Visiting the site one notices immediately, that the late 1960s multi- housing complex is located in the direction of the main NW-SE runways of SFO International Airport. With some irony, our concept for a color pattern refers to a major force affecting the starting and landing of airplanes; the vivid signal colors of the striped windsocks alerting pilots of prevailing ground winds.
