Design for a family with extended family, guests and/or multi generational living needs. Three building volumes – arrival, main living, extended family – follow the natural topography of the site.
The building massing splits the site into a large front garden with play area and more intimate rear patio connected to the dining room and to a vegetable garden. The front garden facing facade opens up to sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay to the East.
An atrium separates the arrival and main building volume while connecting front and rear garden area. Another gap between main building and a separate family/guest house also connects front and rear garden area, here via an exterior tapering staircase. A glass enclosed bridge allows direct access between main building and the family/guest house.
