Hamad International Airport – Doha, Quatar

Work with HOK architects (Matthias Troitzsch)

The main feature is the undulating Main Terminal roof supported by arches and half-arches resembling Arabic swords, the emblems of Quatar. The airport was designed to handle the A-380 Airbus with longer landing strips and triple jet bridges. Planning took place in 2003 and construction began in 2005. The airport (terminal and runway) is built 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) east of the older Doha International Airport. It is spread over an area of 2,200 hectares (5,500 acres).
